The Trust for Vexillology is a non-profit corporation organized to support the promotion of the scientific study of vexillology, which is the creation and development of a body of knowledge about flags of all types, their forms and functions, and of scientific theories and principles based on that knowledge, through research, conservation, and education.
The Trust may undertake any project to further this purpose and is organized in part to support and enhance the Whitney Smith Flag Research Center Collection at The University of Texas at Austin’s Dolph Briscoe Center for American History as a center for vexillological education, research, and public service.
Led by a three-member Board of Overseers, the Trust is also organized for conducting and supporting scholarly studies of flags and flag-related topics; conducting conferences, seminars, briefings, and surveys; preparing publications; and providing research and information to the general public, public officials, governments, industry, labor unions, academia, public policy organizations, and the media.
